Wu-Tang Clan Releases New Single ‘Claudine’ Featuring Method Man and Ghostface Killah
Legendary rap group Wu-Tang Clan has made a highly anticipated return with their latest single titled Claudine. This marks the first release from the group since August 2017. The new single features verses from Method Man and Ghostface Killah, with production by Wu-Tang’s esteemed DJ Mathematics. Additionally, the song includes a guest appearance from singer Nicole Bus.
One interesting aspect of Claudine is the inclusion of Nicole Bus, which originated from her 2018 hit You that sampled Wu-Tang Clan’s iconic track C.R.E.A.M. Notably, the release of Claudine comes just a few weeks prior to the 30th anniversary of Wu-Tang Clan’s debut album, Enter the Wu-Tang (36 Chambers), which features the famous song C.R.E.A.M.
Each vocalist on Claudine crafted lyrics that deeply touch on the loss of a family member, particularly a parent. Ghostface Killah, in particular, delivers one of his most sincere and poignant performances as he reflects on his mother and the importance of embracing a parent’s love.
The song holds a personal significance for DJ Mathematics, who revealed that he created it as a dedication to his mother and as an homage to all mothers, wives, and young women. He describes Claudine as a reflection of their struggles, strength, courage, and love.
In conjunction with the release of Claudine, Wu-Tang Clan is currently on the NY State of Mind Tour alongside Nas and De La Soul. The tour, which began in May, will conclude after seven more performances, including their recent show in Edmonton, Canada.
