Security has been tightened at Delhi’s border points ahead of nationwide demonstrations by the Samyukt Kisan Morcha (SKM) in support of wrestlers protesting against Wrestling Federation of India Chief Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh. The SKM had called for these protests in response to Singh being accused of sexually harassing female wrestlers, including a minor. Delhi Police officials have stated that they are taking precautionary measures to prevent any untoward incidents from occurring. The SKM has coordinated with various groups, including trade unions, women, youth, students, intellectuals and other sections of society to hold these demonstrations. They have demanded that Singh be arrested, who is also a BJP MP. The wrestlers had been protesting at Jantar Mantar since April 23 and were removed after trying to march to the newly inaugurated Parliament building. They were detained and later released by police officials.
