BJP (Bharatiya Janata Party) national president JP Nadda criticized the Congress party for their treatment of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. During his recent visit to Jharkhand, Nadda spoke out against Congress’ name-calling of the prime minister, calling him a snake, chaiwala (tea seller), and illiterate. Meanwhile, the rest of the world has praised Modi for his leadership, Nadda noted.
The BJP national president’s comments came in response to Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge’s comments from May in which he compared Modi to a poisonous snake. Kharge had stated that while the snake might look harmless, if you licked it, you would die.
Nadda, however, shifted the focus from Congress’ name-calling to India’s economic performance compared to the rest of the world. According to him, while the economies of America, Europe, and Australia are experiencing a slowdown, India’s economy remains strong despite the challenges brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic.
The remarks from Nadda come at a time when the country is still grappling with a challenging economic situation. However, the government has expressed confidence in their approach, with Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman recently stating that the government is taking a measured and prudent approach to addressing the economic situation.
Overall, the latest comments from Nadda demonstrate that tensions between the BJP and Congress remain high, with both sides seeking to discredit the other. However, the BJP’s focus on the economy could help to shift the conversation in a more positive direction, at least for now.
