World Food India 2023 Showcases India’s Strength in Food Production and Processing
The second edition of World Food India 2023 kicked off on November 3rd, 2023, in New Delhi with a focus on highlighting India’s strengths in food production and processing. This three-day program, organized by the Ministry of Food Processing Industries, Government of India, aims to attract investment and collaborations in the food sector while promoting India as a global destination for food processing industries.
The program gained significant importance as it coincided with the celebration of 2023 as the International Year of Millets. As a result, World Food India 2023 placed special emphasis on the richness of millets as a food source, calling upon the global food processing industry to explore the potential of this nutritious grain.
The honorable Prime Minister of India, Shri Narendra Modi, inaugurated the program and emphasized the fusion of taste and technology as a catalyst for India’s future and economy. He acknowledged the pressing challenge of food security in the country and highlighted the significant increase in agricultural exports of processed food. In a significant development, the Meghalaya Agriculture Marketing Board signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Lulu Group, with the support of Apeda and the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare. This strategic partnership aims to create opportunities for Agri-entrepreneurs to connect with buyers, technology innovators, and institutions, ultimately boosting the agricultural economy of Meghalaya. The MoU signifies the commitment to mutual growth, knowledge exchange, market access, and innovation in the agricultural sector.
