A woman has caused controversy on social media for bringing an expensive couch home with her from the street. The woman, Amanda Joy, took to TikTok to upload a video of her finding the very luxurious ‘Bubble’ couch from Roche Bobois. The original TikTok has since garnered over 40 million views and 4 million likes, causing a fierce debate online.
The TikTok showed Joy finding the couch on the street, and the process of cleaning and getting it into her apartment. While some viewers argued that if such an expensive couch was thrown out, there must have been a reason for it, others felt it was an act of generosity from a rich person. Others said it may not be an authentic model, comparing it to the one posted on the brand’s website.
Surrounded by so much speculation, Joy took to TikTok again to clear a few doubts. Responding to a comment about the risk of bed bugs, she said the couch had been outside for less than 24 hours. Joy also added that they let the couch sit in her dad’s shop for two weeks, making sure it was free of bed bugs. Her couch also contained some rips, which Joy had fixed with pillows and some stains.
