A tragic incident unfolded in Tara Sewaniya, Parwalia, as a 45-year-old woman lost her life and her daughter narrowly escaped after their scooter was struck by a bike. The unidentified bike rider fled the scene, leaving behind the vehicle involved in the collision.
Both the injured victims were immediately rushed to the hospital for medical attention. Unfortunately, the woman succumbed to her injuries and passed away during treatment on Saturday night, while her daughter continues to receive necessary medical care.
Upon receiving information about the incident from the hospital, the Parwalia police station promptly registered a case and initiated an investigation. Following a postmortem examination conducted on Sunday, the woman’s body was duly handed over to her grieving family. The police are now preparing to file a case against the absconding bike rider.
The incident occurred when Sunita Maran and her daughter Neha Maran, residents of Tara Sewania, were en route to Parwalia, carrying an LPG cylinder for refilling. At approximately 5 pm on Thursday, near Ratibad, their vehicle was struck by two bike riders named Kailash, who were traveling from the wrong side. Both Sunita and Neha suffered injuries in the collision. Shockingly, instead of staying to help, the father and son duo fled the scene, leaving the injured mother and daughter behind.
Alerted about the situation, a prompt response from the authorities led them to the hospital where the victims were being treated. Tragically, Sunita’s injuries proved fatal, and she breathed her last at Jeevan Jyoti Hospital in Parwalia on Saturday night. Neha Maran, on the other hand, continues to receive ongoing medical treatment.
The family of the victims has accused the bike rider, Kailash, and his son of being residents of their own village, Parvaliya. They further allege that both individuals were under the influence of alcohol at the time of the incident, with Kailash himself driving the bike during the accident.
With investigations underway, the police are diligently pursuing the case to bring justice to the bereaved family. The incident serves as a stark reminder of the importance of responsible driving and being accountable for one’s actions on the road.
