Rourkela Police Rule Woman Assistant Sub-Inspector’s Death as Excited Delirium; Murder Charges Dropped
The death of woman assistant sub-inspector (ASI) Alisa Narmi Lugun in Rourkela, Odisha, has been ruled as a result of excited delirium, according to a report from AIIMS Bhubaneswar. As a result, the murder charges under Section 302 will now be withdrawn from the chargesheet, as confirmed by Superintendent of Police (SP) Rourkela Mitrabhanu Mahapatra.
The post-mortem report of ASI Lugun was sent to AIIMS Bhubaneswar for further analysis, which revealed that her cause of death was excited delirium. This condition occurs when a person becomes excessively excited, leading to an adrenaline rush and subsequent breathing difficulties. The report also stated that there were no signs of an attack or injuries on her body.
Earlier, the police had lodged a murder case based on the allegations made by the victim’s family. However, after receiving the post-mortem report, the investigation will now take a different direction. SP Mahapatra assured that a conclusion will be reached soon.
The incident occurred on October 1 when ASI Alisa Lugun, who was stationed at Udit Nagar Police Station, went to an accident spot in the evening. She later developed uneasiness and was rushed to the hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
