Wipro, one of India’s leading IT services companies, has announced its plans to invest a whopping $1 billion in artificial intelligence (AI) over the next three years. The company aims to focus on expanding AI, big data, and analytics solutions, as well as developing new research and development platforms.

The decision comes shortly after rival Tata Consultancy Services revealed its intention to train 25,000 engineers to become certified on Microsoft’s Azure Open AI. This move highlights the increasing emphasis on investing in AI across various industries, from banking to big tech.

The widespread interest in AI can be partly attributed to the success of ChatGPT, a generative AI chatbot developed by Microsoft-backed OpenAI. Since its introduction in late 2022, the technology has captivated the world and sparked a surge in investments.

In addition to its financial commitment, Wipro has also launched Wipro ai360, an AI-first innovation ecosystem. Furthermore, the company has plans to train all of its approximately 250,000 employees on AI within the next year.

Wipro CEO Thierry Delaporte expressed the company’s anticipation of a significant transformation across industries, particularly with the emergence of generative AI.

The decision by Wipro to invest heavily in AI reflects a growing trend in the digital landscape. As businesses worldwide recognize the immense potential of AI technologies, they are allocating substantial resources to harness these capabilities.

By investing in AI, big data, and analytics solutions, Wipro aims to stay at the forefront of technological advancements. The company’s commitment to research and development will ensure it remains competitive and continues to deliver cutting-edge solutions to its clients.

As AI continues to revolutionize industries globally, companies like Wipro are tapping into its potential to drive innovation and transformation. With its massive investment, Wipro is poised to contribute significantly to the development and adoption of AI technologies.
