Today could be the day Willie Mullins brings up 100 winners at Cheltenham as the Irish trainer looks to build on a strong start to the Festival. Mullins and Paul Townend had three winners on Wednesday, as State Man won the Champion Hurdle and both Gaelic Warrior and Lossiemouth eased to victories. It leaves Mullins on 97 Festival winners and there is every chance that his century could arrive by the halfway point of the week. Ballyburn is a big favorite in the Gallagher Novices’ Hurdle, today’s opening race, while Fact to File is well-fancied in the Brown Advisory Novices’ Chase and El Fabiolo is the one to beat in the feature race of the afternoon, the Queen Mother Champion Chase. Delta Work tops the market for Gordon Elliott in the Cross Country Chase, but an inspection will take place this morning to see if that race will go ahead after heavy rainfall in the build-up to the Festival. Course officials have suggested it could be pushed back to Friday.
