Wild elephant kills farmer in Karnataka

A farmer in Karnataka was killed by a wild tusker in Ramnagar district on Saturday. The victim, identified as 40-year-old Veerabhadraiah from Virupasandra village in Channapatna taluk, had been monitoring a farm for the past four months. The elephant attacked Veerabhadraiah when he was out on the fields, killing him on the spot. Forest authorities have rushed to the area, and the police have registered a case. Forest Minister Eshwar Khandre expressed his condolences for the loss of life, stating that measures will be taken to push back elephants into the forests from residential areas. The victim’s family will receive Rs 15 lakh as ex-gratia.
