Chris Morland Jr. is facing murder allegations after his newlywed wife was found dead just days after their marriage in Oklahoma. The 49-year-old Morland initially told police that Cassidy Ritchie was visiting a friend, but her body was discovered hidden in the back of her vehicle, covered with clothing and boxes. Tulsa police revealed that Ritchie had suffered multiple injuries from blunt force trauma.

Morland is currently being held in Tulsa County Jail and is set to appear in court on Tuesday for the murder charges. While he has been arrested in Tulsa for first-degree murder, he may also face charges in Tulsa County or Rogers County. The murder case has been submitted to the District Attorney’s Office for formal charges.

The events unfolded after Ritchie’s parents filed a missing persons report with Tulsa police on Thursday. The 39-year-old woman had not been in contact with her parents or children since January 21. Records show that Ritchie and Morland got married on January 7 in Tulsa. However, Morland had a history of violence, having been accused of slapping and punching his wife years ago in Wichita Falls.

Homicide detectives eventually located Ritchie’s vehicle near a bar and grill in Catoosa, Oklahoma. Further investigation led them to discover witnesses who revealed that the car had been involved in a wreck off a creek. The vehicle was then towed for a thorough forensic examination to preserve evidence.

In the divorce records filed by Ritchie from Wichita Falls, it was revealed that she had sought to end their marriage due to incompatibility. The divorce proceedings were ongoing at the time of her death.

Morland had a history with the law, with pending charges and probation for three Tulsa County charges. According to court documents, he pleaded no contest to obstructing an officer and public intoxication. He was given deferred sentences and was on probation at the time of his arrest.

As the investigation continues, Morland remains presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. The details surrounding the murder of Cassidy Ritchie have shocked the community, highlighting the devastating impact of domestic violence. The authorities are diligently working to ensure justice is served for the victim and her grieving family.
