WFP Supports Rwanda’s Education Priorities with National School Feeding Program

The Minister of Education Gaspard Twagirayezu received Mr. Andrea Bagnoli, the WFP Rwanda Country Director, and Dr. Mutinta Nseluke Hambayi, the Deputy Country Director. They discussed the WFP’s Country Strategic Plan for 2025-2029 with a focus on education.

During the meeting, Minister Twagirayezu and the WFP representatives explored the priorities outlined in the Strategic Plan, paying particular attention to education. The WFP is playing an integral role in supporting the Government’s efforts to develop a National School Feeding Strategy and a Financing Strategy for the national school feeding program.

Highlighting the positive impact of the WFP’s Home-grown school feeding program in Rwanda, Minister Twagirayezu commended the initiative’s contribution to the well-being of schoolchildren. By providing nutritious meals, the program not only promotes better health but also plays a vital role in ensuring access to education and improving sanitation.

The collaboration between the Ministry of Education and the WFP aims to expand the reach and effectiveness of the school feeding program. We are grateful for the valuable assistance provided by the WFP in developing the National School Feeding Strategy and the Financing Strategy for our school feeding program.
