The young opener forged a crucial 42-run partnership with Ishan Kishan before being bowled by Romario Shepherd for 27.
Although Varma’s dismissal was a setback for India, captain Hardik Pandya’s quickfire knock of 24 runs from 18 deliveries offered some resistance as he attempted to guide the team to a competitive total. However, Pandya expressed disappointment with the batting performance, acknowledging that the wickets were falling at regular intervals and the pitch was on the slower side. He recognized that India could have done better to set a target of 160 plus.
