West Ham’s Bid for Ghanaian Star Kudus Rejected by Ajax

West Ham United’s pursuit of Ajax winger Mohammed Kudus has hit a roadblock as their bid for the Ghanaian star has been turned down. The club’s technical director, Tim Steidten, recently traveled to Amsterdam in an attempt to secure a deal for the talented player. However, Ajax has rejected West Ham’s offer, stating that it falls short of their valuation of the 23-year-old.

Kudus is keen on making a move away from the Eredivisie side before the transfer window closes next month. Several Premier League teams, including Arsenal and Chelsea, have also expressed interest in signing the former Nordsjaelland star. Brighton had previously agreed in principle to sign Kudus for £35 million, but the deal failed to materialize.

The Ghana international, who is under contract with Ajax until 2025, turned down the club’s offer of a one-year extension in April. Kudus was Ajax’s top scorer in all competitions last season, finding the back of the net 18 times in 42 games. Despite his impressive performances, Ajax finished third in the Dutch top flight behind PSV and Feyenoord.

West Ham, who have already made three signings this summer, are determined to build on their success in the Europa Conference League last season. The arrivals of Sean Moore, Edson Alvarez, and James Ward-Prowse have strengthened the squad. Now, with their unsuccessful bid for Kudus, David Moyes’ side must explore other options to bolster their attacking lineup.

The rejection of West Ham’s bid for Kudus showcases the tough negotiations between clubs during the transfer window. While the Hammers remain keen on signing the winger, they will have to reconsider their offer and come closer to Ajax’s valuation if they want to secure his services. As the deadline approaches, time will tell if West Ham can strengthen their squad further or if they will have to explore alternative targets.
