West Bengal Opposition Leader Criticizes Mamata Banerjee’s Tweet on Manipur Situation

Kolkata (West Bengal) [India], July 31 (ANI): Suvendu Adhikari, the leader of the opposition in West Bengal and a BJP MLA, has slammed Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s recent tweet on the situation in Manipur, describing it as politically mala fide. Adhikari questioned Banerjee’s inaction during the violence that occurred during the Panchayat elections in Bengal.

In a conversation with ANI on Sunday, Adhikari expressed his discontent with Banerjee’s tweet, labeling it as politically motivated. He also raised concerns regarding the lack of action taken by Banerjee’s administration to prevent violence during the Panchayat elections. The opposition leader further praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s 10-year tenure, highlighting the absence of corruption charges and the progress made under his leadership.

Banerjee’s emotional tweet focused on the distressing situation in Manipur, expressing deep concern for the lives affected by hatred. The Chief Minister questioned the silence of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and highlighted the role of the newly formed INDIA alliance of opposition parties in addressing the situation and reinstating humanity.

Additionally, Banerjee urged the people of Manipur to seek peace, promising unwavering support and compassion. Meanwhile, a 21-member multi-party delegation of MPs from the opposition’s Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance (I.N.D.I.A) assessed the situation in Manipur, returning to the national capital. The delegation members will gather at the chamber of Mallikarjun Kharge, the Leader of Opposition, in Parliament on Monday to discuss the current state of affairs in the troubled northeastern state.

Finally, the MPs who participated in the delegation will brief the floor leaders of the I.N.D.I.A. alliance in the Parliament building at 9:30 am on Monday.
