West Bengal Governor CV Ananda Bose participated in the ninth International Yoga Day celebrations in Kolkata on June 21, alongside National Cadet Corps (NCC) cadets and officials of the Central Bureau of Communication (CBC). The Governor stated that yoga has united the East and the West and that yoga is the way to the world, citing Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s upcoming participation in a yoga program at the United Nations headquarters.
Numerous officials across India participated in International Yoga Day programs, including BJP national president JP Nadda in Gurugram, Uttarakhand CM Pushkar Singh Dhami in Haridwar, Vice President Jagdeep Dhankar, Madhya Pradesh CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan, and Ayush Minister Sarbanand Sonowal at Garrison Ground in Jabalpur, and Union Minister Anurag Thakur in Himachal Pradesh.
The theme of this year’s International Yoga Day is Yoga For Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam, or Yoga for the welfare of all in the form of ‘One World-One Family.’ The day serves as a platform to raise awareness about the numerous benefits of yoga and promote its holistic approach to physical, mental, and spiritual well-being.
Since PM Modi introduced the concept of International Yoga Day in 2014 during his address to the United Nations General Assembly, yoga has gained huge popularity worldwide due to its ability to enhance flexibility, strength, balance, and overall fitness.
Yoga has shown remarkable results in reducing anxiety and depression symptoms during the pandemic. It helps with emotional management, mood improvement, and brain clarity and also highlights the connection between the mind and the body.
PM Modi will celebrate the International Day on June 21 at the United Nations Headquarters with the UN leadership and members of the international community. The day serves as a reminder of the benefits of ancient Indian practice, and programs related to yoga will be conducted across India to spread awareness. It is the ninth year since the UN recognized June 21 as the International Day of Yoga through a resolution in 2014.
