The West Bengal school education department has partnered with the Indian Institute of Management Calcutta (IIM-C) to provide leadership development training to head teachers of state government-run and-aided schools. The goal of the training is to empower and motivate school leaders to take an active role in transforming the educational institutes and communities they serve. The first batch of the program took place on June 17-18 at the IIM-C campus, with the aim of training over 2,000 head teachers over the course of the second edition this year. The West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education will also be part of the collaborative initiative. The first edition of the program was organized last year and trained 985 head teachers across West Bengal over five separate sessions. The leadership program will be led by IIM Calcutta professors R Rajesh Babu, Chetan Joshi, and Sumanta Basu, with the aim to have a significant impact on the school education ecosystem.
