Weaver Volleyball Team Shows Significant Improvement at Munford Play Date
The Weaver varsity volleyball team demonstrated remarkable progress during their recent participation in the Munford play date. Head coach Eboney Lewis was thrilled with the positive outcomes and overall performance of the Bearcats. Aside from Weaver, teams from Oxford, Cleburne County, Childersburg, and Vincent also participated in the tournament.
Featuring a 13-player roster with a mix of seniors and juniors, the Bearcats aimed to identify their top performers for the upcoming matches. The play date at Munford marked their second outing of the summer, with their first play date held at Champions Sports Academy on July 13.
Compared to their previous match at Champions, Lewis observed a significant transformation in the team’s gameplay. She highlighted the commendable efforts of several players, including setter Jadey Hatten-Rivera, left-side hitter Maddie Deck, and libero JoJo Masaniai. Their individual performances were noteworthy, as were the impressive improvements displayed by the rest of the team.
While the Bearcats may lack height, with only four players standing at 5-foot-6 or taller, Lewis emphasized the team’s cohesion, communication, and skill development. Their ability to work together on the court, effectively communicate, execute attacks, and read the game demonstrated their progress and growth as a team.
