Jammu and Kashmir Police Chief: War Against Militancy Not Over, Security Forces Will Not Back Down

Jammu and Kashmir Director General of Police RR Swain asserted on Monday that the battle against militancy in the region is not yet fully over, stressing that while security forces may be experiencing losses, they will not retreat from the fight. Swain emphasized that the forces were making efforts to minimize casualties but would not shy away from the challenge of moving forward, even at the cost of sacrificing their own. This war is not over fully yet. The war will only end when one side acknowledges that there is no benefit in it and it will not take them anywhere other than bloodshed. Till that time, as far as our fight is concerned, it is a reality that losses happen but we have to move forward by bearing those losses. We cannot back down from this war, Swain stated.

When questioned about infiltration patterns, Swain explained that it is a matter of strategy which cannot be openly discussed. The onset of snowfall affects infiltration rates in various locations, causing fluctuations in the region’s security dynamics. Swain’s comments come in the wake of a recent operation in Rajouri where two terrorists, including a high-ranking Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) commander with Afghan training, were neutralized along with five army personnel, including two captains.

In an unrelated incident, tragedy struck in Doda district as a load carrier tragically plunged into a 250-feet-deep gorge. The driver lost control of the vehicle while transporting two passengers and five cattle from Thathri to Gundana in the early hours of Monday. The accident claimed the lives of two individuals, Mir Ali of Konthal and Zafarullah of Dandi Bhala, while the driver, Aqib Gulzar, sustained severe injuries and was admitted to the hospital. Local authorities have initiated an investigation into the incident.

As the fight against militancy continues in Jammu and Kashmir, security forces remain determined to persist despite the challenges faced. With the acknowledgment that the war is not yet fully over, they are resolute in their commitment to ensuring peace and stability in the region. The sacrifices made by the security forces underline their unwavering dedication to the cause, as they strive to protect the lives and well-being of the people they serve.
