Wanted Man Arrested After Dramatic Motorway Chase: Dangerous Driving, Drugs, and More
A dramatic motorway chase on the M6 near Manchester ended with the arrest of a wanted man who led police on a high-speed pursuit. The 34-year-old driver, hailing from Manchester, was apprehended after initially refusing to stop for officers in Warrington. As he raced down the motorway in a black BMW convertible, the northbound carriageway had to be closed at J20 just before rush hour. However, the police were able to stop the vehicle near junction 20.
The suspect is facing multiple charges, including dangerous driving, failing to stop for officers, using a cloned number plate, drug driving (cannabis and cocaine), and drink driving. Furthermore, he was wanted by a neighboring force for perverting the course of justice.
Inspector Anton Sullivan from the Cheshire police Roads and Crime Unit praised the quick and decisive action of the officers involved. He stated, While we appreciate the disruption caused by this incident yesterday, the actions taken by officers were commendable. The individual involved was driving erratically and initially attempted to drive in the wrong direction on one of the busiest motorways in Cheshire during rush hour traffic. The danger posed to other innocent motorists was unthinkable and had to be stopped before he got onto Thelwall Viaduct, but thanks to the great work of the team, we were able to bring the incident to a safe conclusion.
The arrested man remains in custody at present. Although the incident caused significant disruption, it serves as a reminder of the importance of swift and effective law enforcement in protecting innocent lives on the roads.
