A wanted criminal carrying a reward of Rs 1.25 lakh has been killed in an encounter with the Special Task Force (STF) of Uttar Pradesh police. The incident occurred in the Kaushambi district of Uttar Pradesh on Tuesday. The notorious criminal, named Gufran, was a resident of Pratapgarh district and was wanted in several cases. DSP DK Shahi said that Gufran was cordoned off in the Samda area of Kaushambi district, and in an attempt to kill the policemen, he opened fire. He was injured in retaliatory firing and was taken to the hospital where he later died.
The police had announced a reward of Rs 1 lakh for Gufran’s arrest, while Sultanpur police had announced a reward of Rs 25,000. The criminal had links to several big gangs in UP, which the police are currently investigating. They recovered a 9 mm carbine and a 32 bore pistol from Gufran’s possession. The police had lodged more than 13 cases against him, including that of murder, loot, and an attempt to murder.
This encounter is a major success for the Uttar Pradesh police’s STF, as they continue their mission to rid the state of criminals. The STF was formed to tackle organized crime, terrorism, and corruption in the state. It is a specially trained group of officers who provide support to police districts in their respective areas of operation.
The encounter has brought to attention the significant increase in organized crime in UP in recent years. The state government has been taking steps to curb this trend by establishing a dedicated unit like STF to investigate cases related to serious crimes. Through this unit, the government aims to build a safer and more secure environment for the people of Uttar Pradesh.
The news of Gufran’s death in the encounter has been welcomed by the people of Uttar Pradesh. However, it is crucial to maintain journalistic integrity and present a balanced view of the topic. It is important to note that the encounter took place under uncertain circumstances, and while the police maintain that they acted in self-defense, it is crucial that the incident is investigated thoroughly to ensure justice is served.
