The Voice of the People (VPP) party commended St. Anthony’s College in Shillong for taking the initiative to organize a public debate between the party’s representative and the State President of the National People’s Party. The debate’s topic was whether the VPP’s demand to review the job reservation policy based on population structure is illogical and misguided. However, unfortunately, the NPP President refused to participate in the debate. Ricky AJ Syngkon, the general secretary of VPP, expressed disappointment and stated that declining to partake in the debate denies the people of the state the opportunity to consider and assess the movement for reviewing the job reservation policy. The VPP believes that the job reservation policy needs reevaluation as per the population structure.
St. Anthony’s College is a prestigious educational institution located in Shillong. It has contributed significantly to the growth of the state and the North East region for many decades.
