Visa is set to launch a new initiative to aid the growth of fintech startups across Africa. The Visa Africa Fintech Accelerator program will welcome around 40 fintech startups across Africa every year, with the goal of offering an intensive three-month learning programme focused on business growth and mentoring. Following completion of the programme, Visa will invest in select firms and help with their commercial launch by offering access to its technology and capabilities. Startups can apply to participate via two application phases each year, beginning in July 2023. Visa has pledged to invest $1bn in Africa’s digital transformation and promote inclusive growth. Visa Everywhere Initiative, which began in 2015, has already involved over 1,000 African fintech startups. Finalists from this competition will be invited to participate in the accelerator programme.
