In Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh, a 15-year-old high school student named Shivraj Singh from Ujjainiya village, located under the Ghattiya police station, tragically ended his life soon after the announcement of the results of the Madhya Pradesh Board of Secondary Education. Shivraj had received a supplementary grade in his social science exam, causing him to become disheartened. The family had left home to attend the Kalash Sthapana programme at a local Krishna temple, Shivraj had locked his room from the inside and had taken the fateful decision to end his life by hanging himself.
Shivraj was an introvert and had sustained an injury to his eye a few days prior to his death. His family members quickly noticed his absence and rushed back to their home, eventually breaking open the door only to find Shivraj hanging inside.
The Madhya Pradesh Board of Secondary Education, which is responsible for the examination of secondary school students in the state, endeavors to provide quality education with great encouragement. On Thursday, the board finally released the Class 10 results for Madhya Pradesh, with many students obtaing successful results. The tragic death of Shivraj illustrates how a successful result is important for the mental well-being of the students. It reinforces the notion that not only should students excel in their examinations but also develop their mental strengths to accept the ups anddowns in their lives.
