Vihiga Senator Godfrey Osotsi has dismissed rumors suggesting that he is vying for the governor’s seat in the next election. Osotsi stated that it is too early to engage in politics for the 2027 elections and urged leaders to focus on serving their constituents instead. He called on those propagating these speculations to allow Governor Wilber Ottichilo to carry out his duties and serve the residents effectively.
Speaking at a church service in Luanda Township PAG, Osotsi emphasized his commitment to his oversight role as a senator. He pledged to ensure that Governor Ottichilo’s administration delivers on its promises to the people of Vihiga County.
Several other individuals, including Emuhaya MP Omboko Millemba, Makadara MP George Aladwa, and businessman Alex Kidake, have expressed interest in the county’s top seat. Amidst this, Osotsi cautioned against excessive politicking, stating that continuous focus on politics could hinder progress in serving the electorate.
Former Sabatia MP Alfred Agoi also weighed in on the matter, questioning whether Governor Ottichilo had resigned from his position. Agoi observed that discussions surrounding the governorship were pervasive, taking place even during church services and funerals.
As Vihiga County gears up for the next election, the varied perspectives presented by leaders reflect the complex dynamics and political aspirations within the region. While some are eyeing the governor’s seat, Senator Osotsi has reassured his commitment to the oversight role, seeking to ensure effective governance in the county. The coming months will shed more light on the individuals vying for this crucial position and their plans for the development and well-being of Vihiga County.
