The Vigilance department in Delhi has issued show-cause notices to seven Public Works Department (PWD) officials in connection with the alleged expenditure on the renovation of the Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s residence. The notice has been given to the officials to respond within 15 days of the notice, as it was alleged by BJP that Arvind Kejriwal spent Rs 45 crores on the renovation of his official residence. Hundreds of BJP workers staged a protest against the chief minister in April, claiming that public funds were used to create the luxurious bungalow, including Dior polish Vietnam marble, expensive curtains, and high-end carpets. Former Delhi Congress chief Ajay Maken also accused the CM of spending public funds on a lavish 7-star residential facility for himself during the COVID-19 pandemic. According to official records cited by Maken, a total of Rs. 44.78 crores were spent on the Addition/Alteration of Kejriwal’s accommodation at Flagstaff Road.
