A delegation from Vietnam met with Tamil Nadu Tourism officials in Chennai on Tuesday to discuss ways of boosting tourism ties between the two regions. Led by Vice Chairman Duong Mah Tiep, the delegation explored the potential for increased tourism and simplified visa procedures, among other issues. Tour operators in Tamil Nadu also presented ideas during the meeting on potential tour programmes that can be offered between Vietnam and Tamil Nadu, focusing on cities with traditional links between the two regions. The TTDC managing director, Sandeep Nanduri, explained how Tamil Nadu attracts both domestic and overseas tourists, due to its strong transport links and ports for visitors. The Vietnamese delegation were keen to explore possible opportunities for medical tourism, as well as air connectivity. Tamil Nadu is ranked highly for its ability to attract both international and domestic visitors. The meeting was viewed as an important step towards increasing tourism between both locations and establishing long-lasting ties.
