Hanoi – Russian news agency Sputnik has praised the development of Vietnamese-made apps, highlighting the country’s efforts to reduce dependence on foreign products and enhance the accuracy of information related to Vietnam’s history and culture.
The report highlighted the global race to conquer generative artificial intelligence (Gen AI) since OpenAI’s ChatGPT made waves in the technology market. However, English-language data sources, which produce the largest language models, often fail to fully comprehend or accurately reflect the cultural intricacies and context of the Vietnamese people.
To address this challenge, Vietnam has recently unveiled a series of AI products, including Gen AI models such as FPT Gen AI, PhởGPT, and Zalo AI. In line with the Vietnamese Government’s direction, VinBigdata, a subsidiary of Vingroup, launched the ViGPT app as a Vietnamese counterpart to ChatGPT.
The move aligns seamlessly with the government’s plan to develop a Large Language Model (LLM) platform in Vietnamese by 2025. This plan underscores the importance of studying, developing, and applying Vietnamese LLM. The Vietnamese LLM will leverage specific knowledge and training data to provide cost-effective solutions for residents, businesses, and organizations to develop new apps.
By developing home-grown AI apps, Vietnam aims to enhance its technological autonomy and ensure that AI applications accurately reflect its cultural values. These advancements in AI technology demonstrate Vietnam’s commitment to innovation and the cultivation of a thriving tech ecosystem.
The introduction of Vietnamese apps like ViGPT marks a milestone in the country’s technological landscape. With a focus on developing and applying AI solutions tailored to Vietnam’s specific needs, the nation is poised to make further progress in the field of artificial intelligence.
Vietnam’s drive to develop its own AI apps has the potential to revolutionize several sectors, including education, healthcare, and e-commerce. As the nation continues to invest in technological innovation, the benefits are expected to trickle down to everyday life, providing individuals and businesses with new and efficient tools to thrive in the digital age.
With an ambitious vision for the future, Vietnam is positioning itself as a key player in the global AI industry. As domestic technology units improve their capabilities and reduce reliance on foreign products, the stage is set for Vietnam to become a hub for AI development and deployment, contributing to the nation’s economic growth and technological advancement.
The launch of the ViGPT app is a testament to Vietnam’s determination to harness the potential of AI while preserving its unique cultural identity. As the country continues its journey towards technological self-sufficiency, it is poised to make significant contributions to the global AI landscape.
Vietnamese-made AI apps represent a step forward in the nation’s quest to leverage innovative technologies for societal and economic progress. With its rich historical and cultural heritage, Vietnam is embracing AI to not only propel its development but also preserve and promote its unique values in an increasingly interconnected world.
