Vietnam and Iran are seeking to enhance their economic cooperation and trade relations, as highlighted during a forum held in Iran. The forum, organized by Vietnam’s Industry and Trade Ministry and the Vietnam embassy in Iran in collaboration with the Iran Chamber of Commerce, Industries, Mines, and Agriculture (ICCIMA), aimed to promote economic, trade, and investment cooperation between the two nations.
During the forum, National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue emphasized the need to remove obstacles and difficulties in order to increase bilateral trade value. He suggested that Vietnam and Iran should work together to develop solutions that enhance economic cooperation, trade, and investment. One of the proposed approaches is to improve the existing legal and institutional frameworks to create a favorable business environment for both countries.
Notably, Vietnam and Iran have already established various cooperation frameworks, including the Economic and Trade Joint Committee, which will convene its 10th session in the coming months to discuss solutions for existing trade and investment difficulties. Chairman Hue also recommended stepping up the activities of working groups focusing on trade exchange and payment. Both nations have signed agreements pertaining to double taxation avoidance, mutual judicial assistance, and customs.
ICCIMA President Hossein Selahvarzi expressed optimism about the economic and trade potential between Vietnam and Iran, emphasizing their complementary economies. However, he acknowledged that the current level of economic and trade cooperation does not align with the strong political and diplomatic relations. Selahvarzi called for greater efforts to promote and expand this collaboration.
In conclusion, Vietnam and Iran are committed to enhancing economic cooperation and boosting bilateral trade. By addressing obstacles, improving legal frameworks, and fostering closer collaboration, both countries aim to unleash the full potential of their economic and trade relationship. The forum served as a platform to explore opportunities and set the stage for further bilateral cooperation in the future.
