In a lighthearted yet cheeky move, Australian beer giant CUB (Carlton United Breweries) has taken a playful jab at the England cricket team following their Ashes Test defeat. After England’s controversial refusal to share a beer with the Australians, CUB has created a limited edition brew called England Bitter as a tongue-in-cheek nod to their rival team.

The special edition beer has been brewed specifically for Ben Stokes and his team, whom CUB refers to as whiners. The liquor plates containing the England Bitter have been shipped and are on their way to Headingley, where they will be personally delivered to the England team. Accompanying the gift is a message urging the poms (a colloquial term for the English) to enjoy the beer, whether warm or cold, regardless of a win, loss, or the end of the third test.

The accompanying note from CUB playfully suggests that to truly appreciate the beer, one must not hedge their positions or ignore blinds. It seems that CUB is aiming to inject some banter into the traditional rivalry between the two cricketing nations and remind the English team to enjoy the sport and not take things too seriously.

As part of this light-hearted celebration, Victoria Bitter (VB) will also release a revamped version of their famous jingle, further enhancing the friendly exchange of banter between the two cricketing nations. Marc Lord, the Marketing Manager at VB, acknowledges the bitterness felt by the English people after the Lords Test but assures them that when they’re feeling less bitter, VB has a beer ready to toast Australia’s famous win in the second Test.

In addition to sending the beer, CUB has also sent a few slabs of England Bitter to the England cricket team to enjoy once they’ve cooled off. The Australian beer company extends their congratulations to the entire Australian team for their remarkable victory in the second Test and wishes them the best of luck in winning the series.

Not forgetting the Aussie fans, free England Bitter T-shirts will be handed out to supporters at Headingley on Thursday. This gesture aims to further promote the camaraderie between Australian and English cricket fans, showcasing the spirit of friendly competition.

It’s worth noting that CUB’s sponsorship of the Australian Cricket team ended in 2017 after a two-decade-long partnership. However, this playful move displays their continued support for Australian cricket and their willingness to engage in light-hearted banter with their rivals.

In summary, CUB has created a limited edition beer called England Bitter to humorously mock the England cricket team after their Ashes Test defeat. The beer is accompanied by a playful message urging the English to enjoy it in any circumstances. This lighthearted act aims to celebrate the sport and foster camaraderie between the two cricketing nations, adding an element of fun to the long-standing rivalry.
