Vice President’s Attempts to Break Parliament Deadlock, Stalemate Continues
New Delhi, Jul 28: Vice President and Rajya Sabha Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar made efforts on Friday to resolve the ongoing deadlock in Parliament. However, despite his initiative, the stalemate in the House continues.
Since the Monsoon session began on July 20, the Rajya Sabha has been marred by continuous disruptions. The House has been functioning far from normal due to the uproar caused by opposition members demanding a statement from Prime Minister Narendra Modi regarding the Manipur violence, as well as a discussion under Rule 267.
In an endeavor to break the impasse in the Upper House, Chairman Rajya Sabha, Shri Jagdeep Dhankhar organized an all-party meeting in his chamber. The Vice President’s office confirmed that various party representatives were present at the meeting, including Piyush Goyal, the Leader of the House, Pramod Tiwari, Congress deputy leader in the House, Jairam Ramesh, the chief whip, and leaders from the BJD and NCP, among others.
Despite the gathering, sources reported that no solution could be reached to end the stalemate plaguing the House.
The persistent disruptions in Parliament have hindered the government’s ability to conduct important legislative business. Bills and discussions on crucial matters have been delayed or aborted due to the chaos and adjournments occurring almost daily.
While the opposition demands accountability and statements on pressing issues, the government argues that important bills and reforms need to be discussed and passed for the benefit of the nation.
The impasse in Parliament raises concerns about the democratic process and its effectiveness in addressing critical matters. It is crucial for the ruling government and the opposition to find common ground and engage in constructive dialogue to drive the country forward.
The Vice President’s attempt to mediate between parties showcases a commitment to resolving the deadlock. However, the continuation of the stalemate calls for renewed efforts and a willingness from all sides to prioritize the nation’s interests and work towards finding common solutions.
The ongoing disruptions not only hinder the functioning of Parliament but also impact the credibility and productivity of the legislative process. It is imperative for all stakeholders to rise above political differences and work together to ensure a smooth and effective functioning of the House.
As the stalemate persists, citizens hope for a breakthrough that will allow Parliament to resume its responsibilities and address pressing issues that require immediate attention. The nation looks to its elected representatives to rise above partisan lines and fulfill their duty towards the people.
The Vice President’s initiative to bridge the gap between parties presents an opportunity for dialogue and negotiation. Ultimately, it will require the cooperation and concerted efforts of all parties involved to break the deadlock and initiate meaningful discussions on matters of national importance.
