Vedanta Collaborates with Volvo CE to Introduce Off-road E-machines at Iron Ore Mines in Karnataka

Vedanta Iron Ore Karnataka has joined forces with Volvo Construction Equipment (CE) to utilize zero-emission electric off-road machines at its mines located in Chitradurga in Karnataka. The partnership will see two electric machines, SDLG’s L956H electric wheel loader and Volvo’s EC55 all-electric excavator, deployed for iron ore mining on a trial basis. We are committed to the cause of sustainability, as we continue to be a frontrunner in adopting sustainable mining technologies,” said M Krishna Reddy, COO-Mining, Sesa Goa at Vedanta Limited. Dimitrov Krishnan, Head of Volvo CE India, added that the memorandum of understanding is part of a range of measures being taken by the company to lead the transformation of the industry.
