Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami recently visited villages Siror and Netala in Uttarkashi, promoting millet cultivation in the state. As part of his efforts, the Chief Minister distributed Mandua seeds among women and sowed them using the ‘line showing’ method in village Siror.
The Chief Minister stressed the importance of promoting millet crops in the state and revealed that an amount of about Rs 73 crore has been given to the State Millet Mission to encourage millet cultivation. He added that demand for coarse grains (millets) is increasing not only in the country but globally as well. Through the State Mandi Board, the government is procuring coarse grains like Mandua, Jhingora, and Chaulai from farmers and paying them online.
During his visit, the Chief Minister also provided information to the villagers about modern agricultural equipment and distributed Jeevamrit fertilizer and Beejamrit fertilizer in the fields. He urged the villagers to increase the use of these fertilizers in their fields.
In addition to promoting millet cultivation and modernizing the agricultural sector, the Chief Minister also planted fruit trees in the village and emphasized the importance of planting more fruit-bearing plants in barren lands.
The Chief Minister‘s visit was focused on getting feedback on the government’s welfare schemes and inquiring about the well-being of the villagers. He also ploughed the fields of village Siror with a power weeder and met with locals to gather information about erosion happening in the Bhagirathi River.
The Chief Minister‘s ultimate goal is to make Uttarakhand the best state in India by prioritizing the development of its villages. By promoting millet cultivation and modernizing the agricultural sector and addressing environmental concerns, the Chief Minister hopes to create a sustainable and prosperous future for Uttarakhand’s citizens.
