The Uttar Pradesh government is set to boost skill development in 47 ITI and Polytechnic Institutes through a Private Sector Partnership (PSP) module. This initiative by the Yogi government aims to enhance the technical education system and improve training processes for students.
The Directorate of Training and Employment (Training Block) has taken a decisive step to engage private companies in the operation of ITI and polytechnic institutes across the state. These private agencies will play a crucial role in implementing training and skill development programs for trainees, in line with Chief Minister Yogi’s vision.
The selection process for these agencies was conducted based on the PSP module, ensuring a seamless implementation of educational processes and activities, including short-term vocational courses, in all the ITI and polytechnic institutes.
Under the PSP module, the agencies will cover the payment of employees, expenses for consumables, electricity, maintenance, and all taxes and levies associated with fixed assets. The ITIs will operate in two shifts, while polytechnics will operate in a single shift daily. Infrastructure development and the management system will also be improved.
The selected ITIs and polytechnic institutions will adhere to the standards set by the National Council for Vocational Training (NCVT) and the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE). Necessary changes and equipment acquisitions for conducting short-term curriculum and educational activities will be made if required. A website will be established to provide rules, policies, and information related to management, operation, and performance.
Prominent districts where this process will be implemented include Mirzapur, Gonda, Bahraich, Shahjahanpur, Farrukhabad, Hardoi, Basti, Balrampur, Bareilly, and Bijnor. Other districts like Kannauj, Mau, Azamgarh, Badaun, Raebareli, Hathras, Banda, Shravasti, Kushinagar, Chitrakoot, Fatehpur, Basti, and Bulandshahr will also benefit from the PSP module to enhance education and training programs in ITIs and polytechnics.
This step by the Uttar Pradesh government reflects its commitment to equipping students with the necessary skills to succeed in various industries. By partnering with private agencies, the state aims to provide quality technical education and improve employment prospects for aspiring trainees.
