Uttar Pradesh Government Develops Digital Register Module to Digitize School Records and Empower Teachers
The Uttar Pradesh government is taking significant steps to revolutionize the education system in the state. As per the instructions of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, the government is developing a new module called ‘Digital Registers’ on the Prerna portal. The aim is to digitize school records and empower teachers by introducing a smart working style.
The State Project Office, Samagra Shiksha, Uttar Pradesh, has created this module, which will provide training to teachers on how to use digital registers effectively. Once trained, teachers will be able to update their daily tasks related to the school in a digital format. This new approach eliminates the need for manual registers and allows teachers to complete all their work on their mobile devices.
The government’s decision to digitize 12 registers is a significant step towards streamlining administrative processes. Furthermore, online real-time updates will be implemented in the future. The department will soon issue guidelines for the training of teachers.
To ensure the effectiveness of the digital registers, Director of the State Educational Research and Training Council, Pawan Kumar, has issued a letter to the relevant authorities regarding the digitization of school registers and teacher training. The digitization will be carried out based on a time and motion study, ensuring maximum efficiency.
Before the implementation of digital registers, all registers in schools will be preserved as archives at the school level. Once the digital registers become effective, Block Education Officers, District Basic Education Officers, Chief Development Officers, District Magistrates, and state-level officials will review the details entered in the digital registers through the Prerna app. The information recorded in the new Prerna portal module will be considered certified.
By implementing digital registers, teachers will be able to utilize their time more effectively. This will enable them to focus on providing quality education to children without being burdened by administrative tasks.
The registers that will be digitized include attendance registers, entry registers, class-wise student attendance registers, mid-day meal registers, integrated free material distribution registers, and stock registers. Additionally, registers for income and expenditure, issuing checks, conducting meetings, inspections, correspondence, and tracking children in libraries and sports will also be digitized.
This move will not only enhance transparency but also eliminate data manipulation possibilities. The former Chief Secretary, Deepak Kumar, previously issued directives regarding the digitization of registers, emphasizing the use of the Digital Register App by teachers and principals to upload relevant information. Block Education Officers, Basic Shiksha Adhikari, Cluster Development Officers, District Magistrates, and state-level officials will be able to access this information through the Prerna app.
The Uttar Pradesh government’s focus on digitizing school records will undoubtedly streamline administrative processes and empower teachers to provide a better learning experience for students. It is a commendable effort that aligns with the government’s vision for a progressive education system.
