Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s scheduled visit to the United States on June 21 is being called a major milestone by John Chambers, Chairman of the US-India Strategic Partnership Forum (USISPF).
Chambers believes that India’s leadership on the global stage could accomplish a lot economically in the future. Last week, Atul Keshap, President of the US-India Business Council (USIBC), called Modi’s visit a big deal and a powerful signal that India and the US have a shared future.
The Biden administration has only had two previous state visits, reserved for their closest friends, and Keshap contends that India has now become one of these close friends. As both leaders come together, he sees his future as tied to India.
The visit will be Modi’s first to the US since President Biden assumed office, and it is expected to focus on strengthening ties and cooperation between the two countries. The agenda for the visit is expected to include discussions on COVID vaccine production, climate change, and Indo-Pacific security.
The US and India have a longstanding partnership dating back to the Cold War era, and they have been working together on a range of global issues. With India’s growing power and influence, many analysts believe that the partnership is set to deepen further in the coming years.
