The US government has expressed excitement over Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s upcoming state visit on June 22. The State Department’s Principal Deputy Spokesperson, Vedant Patel, during a press briefing on Monday, stated that the US is looking forward to Modi’s visit and deepening their collaboration on various issues, including economic ties and trade. President Joe Biden and First Lady Jill Biden invited the Indian leader to attend a state dinner at the White House, which marks the first time in 14 years that an Indian leader will receive this honour. The US Congress has also invited Modi to address a joint meeting of the House of Representatives and Senate during his visit. If he accepts the invitation, this will be the seventh time an Indian Prime Minister addresses Congress, and the first time a Prime Minister speaks twice.
