The US Coast Guard has announced that the air supply for the missing tourist submarine, Titan, is running low, and the five passengers on board may run out of oxygen by 1 p.m. UK time on Thursday. The search is on to rescue the passengers, which include OceanGate Expeditions CEO Stockton Rush, British billionaire Hamish Harding, French diver Paul-Henri Nargeolet, and Pakistani businessman Shahzada Dawood and his son, Suleman Dawood.
The submarine went missing after submerging from its support vessel, the Polar Prince, last Sunday. Canadian planes have been scouring the North Atlantic Ocean in search of the submarine, and have detected intermittent banging noises from the area where the submarine was last known to be. However, the US Coast Guard has yet to determine the source of these noises.
Family and friends of the passengers on board remain hopeful that the team will be found safe and sound. Friends of Hamish Harding, for example, have expressed their confidence in Harding’s abilities, stating that if anyone can find a way out of this situation, it’s him.
As the race against time continues, rescue workers are doing everything in their power to find the missing submarine. The situation is a dire one, but there remains hope that the five passengers will be found alive and well.
