US and Canada Cooperate on Allegations of Indian Government Involvement in Khalistan Terrorist’s Fatal Shooting

The United States and Canada are working closely together to address allegations surrounding the Indian government’s alleged involvement in the fatal shooting of Khalistan terrorist Hardeep Singh Nijjar. In response to Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s claims that the Indian government was behind Nijjar’s killing, US State Department spokesperson Matthew Miller stated during a press briefing that they remain in close coordination with their Canadian counterparts on this matter.

Nijjar, a designated terrorist in India, was gunned down outside a Gurdwara in Surrey, British Columbia on June 18. While Trudeau claimed that Canada’s national security officials had reason to believe that agents of the Indian government carried out the assassination, India firmly rejected the allegations as baseless and motivated. As of now, Canada has not provided any public evidence to support their claim surrounding Nijjar’s killing.

The United States has been actively engaging with the Indian government, urging them to cooperate with Canada’s ongoing investigation. US Secretary of State Antony Blinken even discussed the issue with Indian Foreign Minister S Jaishankar during their recent meeting. Conversely, Trudeau expressed his desire to collaborate with India on the matter, stating that Ottawa aims to work constructively towards finding the truth about this serious incident.

Indian External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar recently highlighted the longstanding issues India has faced with Canada, attributing it to the country’s leniency towards terrorism, extremism, and violence within its borders. However, he emphasized that the situation should not be considered a deadlock and stated that the Indian government is open to examining any specific and relevant information shared by the Canadian side regarding the issue.

In summary, the United States and Canada are closely coordinating their efforts to address allegations of Indian government involvement in the fatal shooting of Khalistan terrorist Hardeep Singh Nijjar. While Trudeau claims his country has credible allegations, India strongly denies any involvement and requests substantiating evidence. The US has been urging India to cooperate with Canada’s investigation, and both countries express a desire to work constructively towards resolving this matter.
