A 24-year-old UPSC aspirant met with a tragic end as he drowned in Yamuna river in outer Delhi’s Alipur area on Monday. The deceased was identified as Manush Malik, a resident of Rohini. Malik, who was preparing for the UPSC examination, went to see the sunrise with his friends but later decided to take a quick bath in the river. Unfortunately, he drowned and his body was later recovered from the river with the help of divers.

According to the police, Malik went to the Yamuna river with four to five of his friends to enjoy the view of the sunrise. During initial investigation, it was revealed that Malik went for a quick bath in the river, however, things went awry. The victim’s family and friends will also be questioned as a part of the inquiry.

The incident highlights the need for caution while swimming or bathing in open water bodies, especially during the monsoon season. The unpredictable water currents and strong undercurrents can prove to be life-threatening, even for professional swimmers.

This sad incident serves as a reminder of the importance of safety measures while enjoying water activities. It is advisable to avoid swimming in unguarded waters and to always have someone present while bathing or swimming in open water bodies. It is critical to take responsibility for one’s safety and to be mindful of the possible risks that come with water activities. Our hearts go out to the family and friends of the victim during this difficult time.
