In response to the soaring temperatures in Uttar Pradesh, the state government has directed the UP State Road Transport Corporation (UPSRTC) to improve the maintenance and repairs of buses, particularly those with air conditioning. The UPSRTC will also be keeping a watchful eye on the safety of regular commuters using their buses.
Following instructions from Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, officials from UPSRTC conducted an inspection of the buses to ensure that passenger safety and convenience were not compromised by the hot weather or any faults with sealing coach fans, curtains and emergency doors. The state government also directed service managers and assistant regional managers to resolve any issues pertaining to passenger safety and convenience by June 15.
To maintain a hygienic and pleasant travel experience, the government also placed great emphasis on special arrangements for the cleaning of air-conditioned buses. Minister of State for Transport (Independent Charge) Dayashankar Singh issued an instruction for the transport undertaking to properly maintain all A/C equipment in buses, address the fixing of curtains, and keep passenger coaches in an airtight state.
The government’s focus on improving the condition of buses and maintaining a high level of safety and comfort for passengers reflects its commitment to public transport in the state. With temperatures expected to remain high for some time, the UPSRTC’s efforts are sure to be appreciated by regular commuters who depend on their services.
