On Saturday, Union minister Anurag Thakur referenced the remarkable transformations witnessed over the past nine years of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, attributing it to the undeniable power of the people’s vote. Speaking at a conclave in New Delhi to mark nine years of the BJP-led NDA government, Thakur noted India’s ascent from a corrupt economy to one of the world’s leading economies under Modi’s tenure, stating that such transformation would not have been possible without the strong government and decisive leadership that the people chose through their votes.
Moreover, the Minister celebrated the Government’s emphasis on ‘last mile delivery’ of public services, lauding the priceless value added through its incorporation of technology, transparency and accountability. Vaishnaw, the Minister of Railways, Communications, Electronics and Information Technology echoed this sentiment, pointing to the drastic improvements that have been seen in the lives of the poor through programmes such as ‘pucca homes’ for 3.5 crore recipients, tap water connections for 12 crore households and cooking gas connections for 9.6 crore homes.
The discussion also reflected on the vivid display of India’s commitment to national security and scrapping of colonial legacies by way of projects such as the ‘Kartavya Path’ and the upcoming inauguration of a new Parliament building which serve as a temple of democracy. Vaishnaw also mentioned Prime Minister Modi’s account of building a toilet in every household during his speech on Independence Day as a watershed moment in the fields of female safety and sanitation, the success of which is evident in the 11.72 crore toilets built today.

This marks a period of celebration of the incredible results the BJP government has seen in the past nine years, with the hope that with the same decisive backing of the people, India will blossom into a fully developed nation by 2047.
