The survey showed that 69 percent of staff have utilized AI in their work over the past year, despite limited institutional support. While there is a desire for greater adoption of AI, professionals also expressed concerns about potential errors and biases that AI systems may introduce in student support. EAB’s report offers recommendations to guide universities in responsibly incorporating AI into student support strategies.
The report, titled From Caution to Curiosity: Success Staff Weigh In On AI’s Role in the Future of Student Support, highlights the need for universities to centralize their AI efforts, create AI collaboration spaces for professional development, and address staff concerns about AI risks. Tara Zirkel, EAB’s Director of Strategic Research, emphasized the importance of proper training and oversight to ensure the responsible use of AI technology in student support.
The survey, completed by 221 respondents from various colleges across the United States, showcases the growing interest in leveraging AI to improve student outcomes. EAB aims to partner with university leaders to enhance student support efforts through the implementation of appropriate AI tools and capabilities.
