The Caretaker Sindh Chief Minister Justice (Retd), Maqbool Baqar, has called upon non-government organizations (NGOs) to align their efforts with the growing healthcare needs of Karachi. Speaking at a fundraising event for the University Medical Complex, Baqar emphasized the importance of NGOs establishing hospitals to alleviate the burden on government healthcare facilities in the city.

During the event, attended by individuals such as Sohail Mahdi and Dr. Dilbar A. Saeed, Baqar acknowledged that the establishment of the University Medical Complex marked a significant milestone in advancing healthcare in Karachi. He highlighted the rapid growth of healthcare needs in the metropolis and expressed optimism that the addition of this hospital would help ease the strain on existing facilities.

Baqar extended his gratitude to the healthcare leaders, professionals, and individuals working tirelessly to turn the dream of the University Medical Complex into a reality. He emphasized that the hospital’s establishment was a collective effort dedicated to the health and prosperity of the people of Karachi, Sindh, and Balochistan.

The Chief Minister stressed that a hospital represented more than just bricks and mortar; it symbolized hope, compassion, and healing. The University Medical Complex, he stated, would be a testament to their unwavering commitment to providing world-class healthcare services, embracing advancements in medical science and technology. Baqar announced that the hospital would be established through the collaboration of medical professionals, healthcare experts, and the philanthropic community providing both financial and technical assistance.

Recognizing the pivotal role played by healthcare professionals, Baqar emphasized that their responsibility extended beyond treating illnesses to fostering a culture of prevention, education, and wellness.

He also highlighted the significant contributions of Medics International, a non-profit organization that has been serving the underprivileged members of Pakistani society for over three decades. Managing numerous clinics and healthcare setups across the country, Medics International has played a crucial role in delivering healthcare services without discrimination based on caste, creed, or religion.

The appeal for NGOs to address the healthcare needs of Karachi comes at a time when the city’s population is growing rapidly. With increasing demands placed on government hospitals, the establishment of additional healthcare facilities by non-government organizations would provide much-needed relief and ensure better access to healthcare services for the people of Karachi.

The call made by Chief Minister Baqar reflects the collective commitment to prioritize the well-being and health of the people of the city. As the University Medical Complex takes shape, it stands as a beacon of hope, compassion, and progress—an endeavor that will shape the future of healthcare in Karachi and beyond.
