Union MoS V Muraleedharan recently met with the High Commissioner of Gambia, Mustapha Jawara, in New Delhi to discuss cooperation in various sectors. The meeting focused on enhancing trade, improving healthcare systems, and fostering collaboration in the field of education.
V Muraleedharan took to Twitter to express his satisfaction at receiving the Gambian envoy. He highlighted the productive discussions regarding opportunities for further cooperation in trade, health, education, and capacity building.
This meeting comes as part of India’s efforts to strengthen economic partnerships with African countries and promote bilateral ties. In June, Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar hosted leaders from Zimbabwe, The Gambia, and Congo in New Delhi, aiming to enhance the economic partnership between India and Africa.
During his interaction with the Vice President of The Gambia, BS Jallow, Dhankhar emphasized the importance of strengthening ties between the two nations, especially in the areas of trade and economic collaboration.
The 18th CII-EXIM Bank India Conclave on India-Africa Growth Partnership, held in Delhi from June 14-16, played a significant role in encouraging Indian companies to expand their footprints in Africa. The inaugural session, titled India-Africa: Synergies for ONE Growth, reflected India’s commitment to digitalization, environmental sustainability, healthcare, and food security in Africa.
India’s Foreign Policy places great importance on Africa, and the government has worked diligently over the past nine years to strengthen ties with the continent, as highlighted by External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar. He emphasized that India’s partnership with Africa is not merely transactional but represents the solidarity of a shared struggle.
