Opposition unity is a Lie: Union Minister Pashupati Paras
Union Minister Pashupati Kumar Paras has accused the opposition leaders of lying about their unity. He recently commented on the opposition meeting that was held at Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s residence, where top opposition leaders gathered to forge a united front.
Paras stated that the opposition leaders only come together for photographs and there is no vacancy for the Prime Minister’s post in 2024. He also criticized Lalu Yadav and Nitish Kumar for joining hands with the Congress, who they had previously opposed during the Emergency period.
The opposition meeting was held on Friday, and among those who attended were Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, Trinamool Congress Chief and Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee, Aam Aadmi Party Chief and Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal, and Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) Chief and Tamil Nadu CM MK Stalin.
JD(U) leader Neeraj Kumar took a jibe at the BJP, stating that if the opposition unites, BJP’s political shop would be closed. Sushil Modi, a BJP MP, dismissed the meeting, stating that sitting together for tea does not mean that the opposition is united.
Meanwhile, BJP National President JP Nadda criticized Uddhav Thackeray for attending the opposition meeting. He stated that Balasaheb Thackeray had said that he would close his shop if he ever joined hands with the Congress and that his own son had now closed his shop.
The opposition meeting was held to forge a united front to challenge the BJP in the 2024 general assembly polls. However, Paras’ comment indicates that the opposition may not be as united as they seem. The meeting may have been just for show, with the leaders coming together for photo opportunities rather than a genuine effort to join forces.
The BJP seems unimpressed by the opposition’s meeting and remains confident about its own prospects in the upcoming polls. Only time will tell if the opposition can truly unite to give the BJP a run for its money.
