Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal Highlights the Importance of Integrated Medicine Approach with Ayush

Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal laid the foundation stone for ‘Ayush Diksha’, a center for human resource development in Ayush. The minister emphasized the significance of integrating the Ayush system of medicine with modern medicine in order to enhance healing and improve the quality of life. The ‘Ayush Diksha’ center aims to empower Ayush professionals and provide world-class patient care services, aligning with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of a healthy India through the Ayush movement.

The event took place at the Central Ayurveda Research Institute in Bhubaneswar, where Sonowal discussed the country’s transition towards an integrated approach that combines traditional Ayush medicine with modern medicine. He referred to this approach as a boon for the people of the country, as it allows individuals to address their ailments while enriching their overall well-being.

Sonowal, who serves as the Minister of Ayush and Ports, Shipping & Waterways, expressed his confidence in achieving Prime Minister Modi’s vision of a healthy India by promoting and integrating various traditional medicines. He emphasized how Yoga has already revolutionized the world towards a movement of healthy living and that a similar focused approach will empower other traditional Indian medicines.

The newly inaugurated ‘Ayush Diksha’ center will serve as a catalyst for the Ayush movement, providing Ayush professionals with the opportunity to enhance their skills and deliver world-class patient care services. With an allocated budget of Rs 30 crore, the center will feature state-of-the-art facilities, including auditoriums, modern rooms, discussion rooms, and a natural library. The center aims to collaborate with renowned national institutes to facilitate research and development, strengthen human resources, and generate revenue for self-sustainability.

The event was attended by Bhubaneswar MP Aparajita Sarangi, Director General of the Central Council for Research in Ayurvedic Sciences, Prof Vaidya Rabinarayan Acharya, as well as other senior officials, students, and Ayush professionals.

Sonowal’s emphasis on integrating the Ayush system of medicine with modern medicine highlights the government’s commitment to promoting holistic healthcare in India. By using both traditional and contemporary medical approaches, the country aims to provide comprehensive and effective healthcare solutions for its citizens.

This move towards an integrated medicine approach not only aligns with India’s rich heritage but also recognizes the growing demand and acceptance of Ayurveda, Yoga, Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha, and Homeopathy as alternative healthcare systems. Through initiatives like ‘Ayush Diksha’, India is taking significant strides towards achieving a healthier and happier nation, as envisioned by Prime Minister Modi.
