Bhubaneswar, Nov 24 – Union Skill Development and Entrepreneurship Minister Dharmendra Pradhan laid the foundation stone for the National Skill Training Institutes (NSTI) Plus in Jatni, Odisha, marking a significant step towards skill development in the state. The NSTI Plus, a key initiative by the Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship, aims to train 500 instructors under the Craftsmen Instructor Training Scheme in its first phase.
With an estimated cost of over Rs 90 crore, the campus of NSTI Plus will span across 8 acres in Jatni, located approximately 25 km away from Bhubaneswar. This state-of-the-art institute will provide quality training to trainers from 524 Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) in Odisha, as well as central skill development training institutions.
During the foundation stone laying ceremony, Minister Pradhan emphasized the importance of NSTI Plus in promoting skill development and empowering individuals. In his address, he said, The establishment of NSTI Plus in Jatni marks a significant milestone in our efforts to enhance the skills of our workforce. This institute will play a crucial role in providing national-level training to instructors from various training institutes in the state.
The initiative aims to significantly contribute to the upskilling and reskilling of instructors in order to meet the evolving demands of the job market. In a later phase, an additional 500 instructors will be incorporated into the training program, further enhancing the impact of the project.
The NSTI Plus in Jatni is expected to emerge as a center of excellence, equipped with state-of-the-art facilities and a curriculum that aligns with industry requirements. Through its comprehensive training programs, the institute aims to bridge the skill gap and equip the instructors with the necessary knowledge and expertise.
