On June 2, people in Telangana, India, celebrated the state’s foundation day. Union Minister G Kishan Reddy led the festivities by unfurling the National Flag at Golconda Fort in Hyderabad. Reddy spoke about the support the Government of India has provided to the people of Telangana under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He acknowledged the collective effort of Telangana residents, who fought tirelessly for the state’s creation. The government, Reddy added, is committed to working towards the progress and development of Telangana. President Draupadi Murmu and Prime Minister Modi also celebrated the occasion by extending their best wishes to Telangana’s residents. Telangana was formed in 2014 after a long and arduous struggle, which began in 1952 and ended with the oath-taking of the first Chief Minister, K Chandrasekhar Rao.
