Union Minister of Education and Skill Development, Dharmendra Pradhan, expressed his condolences over the horrific train derailment in Odisha’s Balasore that occurred on Friday evening. The minister traveled to Balasore after cutting short his visit to Kolkata upon receiving word of the incident. In a tweet, Pradhan offered his thoughts and prayers to the families of the victims and wished the injured a speedy recovery. The collision between a passenger train and goods train left over 50 passengers dead and 600 injured. The injured were shifted to nearby medical facilities, and the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) sent rescue teams to the scene. The Odisha chief secretary disclosed that numerous buses and ambulances have been dispatched to the accident site, but the count of injured appears to be high. West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee shared emergency helpline numbers and offered her condolences to the victims and families affected by the tragic incident.
